The MLOF is located close to the summit of Mount Lemmon in the Catalina Mountains north east of Tucson, Arizona on a site maintained by the Steward Observatory. The telescope consists of a 1.5-m primary mirror with a chopping secondary mirror for ifrared observations at the f/16 Cassegrain focus. The MLOF is funded and operated jointly by UCSD's Center for Astrophysics & Space Sciences (CASS), and the Astronomy Department of the University of Minnesota.
